Troy Football did just that, opening the 2026 season on a winning note Saturday night, holding off Sam Houston for a 24-21 victory at The Vet.
Quarterback Goose Crowder led the way with three touchdown passes, connecting with Fabian Rogosch, TK Keyes and TJ Lott. Lott’s 18-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter gave the Trojans a 10-point cushion that proved crucial down the stretch.
Troy’s defense made its biggest impact against the run, limiting Sam Houston to just 38 rushing yards, while piling up 13 tackles for loss and four sacks.
🔼 Point Earned. The Troy soccer squad remained unbeaten at home this past weekend, earning a 2-2 draw with visiting Kennesaw State on Friday night.
Madisyn Marchesi and Alaian Uncapher each scored their second goal of the season to pace the offensive attack, while Taylor Richards was outstanding in goal, making seven saves in the match.
The Trojans will look to stay unbeaten at home when West Florida rolls into town for a Monday Matinee. Kickoff today is set for 3 p.m.
🔼 Opening Act. The Troy cross country squads opened up their 2026 seasons this past Friday at the JSU Foothills Invitational in Oxford, Ala.
The men’s team earned a top-five finish, while the women clocked in at seventh in the race.
After missing last season, Riley Treadaway returned to lead the way for the Trojans in the men's 5K, with a time of 15:42.10 to finish 13th overall. Meanwhile, Abby Jepkemboi made her Trojan debut as Troy's top women’s runner.
Today’s Trojan Top Performance, brought to you by Conecuh Sausage, is veteran QB Goose Crowder, who tossed for three TDs in Troy’s season-opening victory over Sam Houston. He finished 12-for-24 with 165 yards through the air, while adding nine carries for 38 yards on the ground. It was the fifth time in his career he’s tossed for multiple TDs in a game.
