🔼 Leading The Way. As voted on by the Troy Football student-athletes and coaches, four Trojans were named captains for the 2024 season. Quarterback Goose Crowder, offensive lineman Daniel King and linebackers Brenden Jackson and Jordan Stringer were each selected for the honor. As head coach Gerad Parker said, “[there’s] no better compliment than having the trust of your peers!”

🔼 Now Driving. Troy women’s golf started the season with a 10th-place finish at the Tiger Classic thanks to a strong performance from Laura Fangmeyer. The junior golfer carded three birdies in her final round 72 to tie for a team-leading 22nd place. The Trojans will continue its fall campaign in two weeks at the Green Wave Classic hosted by Tulane at the Bayou Oaks at City Park.

🔼 Bandits and Spears. Troy is one of the few programs in the country that refer to their outside linebackers as "bandits” and “spears”. The bandit position is a hybrid of a linebacker and defensive end while a spear is someone between a linebacker and a defensive back.

💥 Junior bandit Phillip Lee was one of Troy's defensive leaders last season before suffering a season-ending injury. The 6-foot-4 junior has appeared in 22 games so far for the Trojans and currently has 22 tackles, four TFLs and 2.5 sacks.

💥 Junior transfer Devin Lafayette will slot in at the spear position for Troy. In his four-year career at Northern Illinois, Lafayette recorded 123 total tackles, two interceptions, 3.5 TFLs and two sacks.

🔼 The Ultimate Fan. Troy Athletics announced the 12 finalists for the inaugural Troy Football Ultimate Fan Competition from a pool of more than 100 nominations. Voting for the Troy Football Ultimate Football Fan runs from now until Friday, Aug. 30, at noon, and the winner will receive a signed football from Coach Parker, sideline access to a Trojan Football game, a tour of the team’s facilities and Troy Adidas gear.

🔼 Run It Back. Playfly Sports Properties announced a long-term extension agreement with Troy University Athletics, extending a multimedia rights partnership that will continue Playfly and Troy's innovative collaboration to create non-traditional marketing and revenue-driving opportunities. As part of the renewed agreement, Playfly Sports will continue to manage all aspects of the corporate partnerships' portfolio for Troy Athletics, connecting brands with passionate Trojan fans.

Answer: 153.4 yards!

Troy averaged 153.4 rushing yards per game last season with 2,148 net rushing yards. However, the Trojans lost 77.5 percent of their carries in 2023 through graduation, the transfer portal and the NFL draft and will look to replace the workload with running backs Gerald Green, Damien Taylor, Jarris Williams and Jordan Lovett.
