Just when you thought he couldn't do anymore, Kimani Vidal rushed for a Troy-record five touchdowns to lead the Trojans to their eighth Sun Belt Conference title with a 49-23 victory over App State in the 2023 conference championship game.
In the historic performance, Vidal rushed for 233 yards on 26 carries and became the first player to ever rush for five touchdowns in an FBS conference championship game. He scored twice in the second quarter to give the Trojans a 14-0 lead before going wild in the fourth quarter.
Vidal scored three times in a 28-point fourth quarter outburst by the Trojans.

🔼 Game Week. That’s right. We’ve finally reached Game Week for Trojan Football.
Troy kicks off the 2026 season this Saturday night at The Vet, welcoming Sam Houston for a 6 p.m. CT matchup on ESPN+.
The Trojans enter the year with plenty of expectations after winning the Sun Belt West Division and reaching the conference championship game in 2025. Troy was picked to win the division again this fall, giving head coach Gerad Parker’s squad an opportunity to set the tone right away.
🔼 Talkin’ Ball. Troy's weekly coaches show, Trojan Talk, returns Monday, live from Baumhower's Victory Grille in Troy, with football head coach Gerad Parker and Voice of the Trojans Barry McKnight previewing Troy's season opener against Sam Houston.
Baumhower's features wall-to-wall TVs throughout the restaurant and will offer 81-cent wings and $2.99 pints of Trojan Ale, along with its other daily specials each week during Trojan Talk. Fans in attendance will also have the opportunity to enter a drawing for prizes given out throughout the show.
In addition to Parker, McKnight will be joined live during the show by Troy football players, Director of Athletics Kyle George, and various other Troy head coaches.
🔼 Pickin’ Up A Pair. The Troy Volleyball team opened up the 2026 campaign by notching two victories at this past weekend’s Troy Invitational inside Trojan Arena.
The Trojans started in impressive fashion Friday night, sweeping Mercer in three sets while hitting .434 as a team—the program’s highest single-match hitting percentage against a Division I opponent. Kalina Calvillo led the way with 12 kills and five service aces.
After a tough loss Saturday, the Trojans responded nicely in Sunday’s finale, cruising past Alabama State in another three-set sweep, 25-15, 25-15, 25-11.
