Cavill's Big Day Helps Trojans Secure Top-Four Seed For This Week's Sun Belt Tourney

🔼 Feelin’ Grand. The Troy Baseball squad heads into this week’s Sun Belt Tournament in grand fashion thanks to first baseman Blake Cavill’s big day at the plate.
Cavill blasted two grand slams as part of the Trojans’ five-HR day in a 13-3 victory at ULM in the regular season finale. He finished with nine RBIs on the day, tying the single-game Sun Belt Conference record.
With the win, Troy clinched the No. 4 seed in this week’s tournament and will square off with No. 5 South Alabama in Wednesday’s opening round. First pitch from Montgomery is set for 7:30 p.m.
🔼 Golden Girl. Hopefully the Troy track & field programs left extra room in their luggage because they’re going to need for the trip home from the 2026 Sun Belt Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
The Trojans earned eight podium finishes at the championship, including four gold medal performances.
Rachel Whyte (400m), Ethan Forbes (800m), Aaliyah Murphy (400m hurdles) and the women’s 4×400m relay all brought home championship victories.
🔼 Beast Of A Backstop. Last week, Troy catcher Jimmy Janicki earned a spot as one of 48 semifinalists for the Dick Howser Trophy.
The Dick Howser Trophy has been awarded to the top player in college baseball since 1987, based on two rounds of national voting by NCBWA members.
Janicki is the fifth Trojan to be named a semifinalist for the Dick Howser Trophy and the third in the last four seasons.
The Troy sophomore has been among the top producers in college baseball this season, slashing .353/.421/.688 while ranking eighth nationally in RBIs (70), ninth in doubles (21) and 17th in total bases (152) while leading the Sun Belt in home runs (17). Janicki is the only player in college baseball with at least 20 doubles, 15 home runs and 65 RBIs.
Today’s Trojan Top Performance, brought to you by Conecuh Sausage, is senior Blake Cavill, who became the first Trojan to ever hit two grand slams in the same game in the series finale win over ULM. The Australia native finished with nine RBIs in the game, the second-highest single game total in Troy history.
