🔼 Tiger Takedown. Not a single member of the Troy softball squad was even in middle school the last time the Trojans beat Auburn.
That all changed this week as Troy used a dominant performance in the circle to pick up a 2-0 victory over the Tigers in front of one of the largest crowds in program history (1,623 - seventh most ever).
Two early runs in the first two innings were all the Trojans needed, as the team reached the 30-win mark for the fourth time in four seasons under head coach Eric Newell. Makaley Boswell singled and scored on a wild pitch in the first, and Dailynn Motes hit a sacrifice fly in the second to pair with her single.
Ella Cunningham and starter Esmee Ames came through in the clutch, stranding 12 Auburn runners on base. The duo held the Tigers to just three hits on the evening.
🔼 In Good Company. Troy baseball standout Drew Nelson got one step closer to a national award this week as he was named one of 15 semifinalists for the John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year Award.
The senior outfielder and left-handed pitcher has been one of the Trojans' top hitters this spring, batting .336 with 12 doubles, three homers and 24 RBIs. On the mound, he's made six appearances with a 3.37 ERA and 15 strikeouts to four walks across 10.1 innings.
🔼 State Of The Trojans. Spring camp has wrapped up for the Troy football program, who is entering the third season under the watchful of head coach Gerad Parker.
Parker and the Trojans reached the Sun Belt Championship Game for the third time in teh past four seasons last fall. Troy had a four-win improvement in 2025, including a five-game win streak and the Trojans are ready for more in 2026.

Today’s Trojan Top Performance, brought to you by Conecuh Sausage, is sophomore Ella Cunningham, who came in relief for the Trojans and tossed six shutout innings against Auburn in a 2-0 victory over the Tigers. Cunningham allowed just three hits and struck out five.
