🔼 Good To Be Home. It had been over two weeks since the 18th-ranked Troy baseball team played a home game.
It was evident quickly that the Trojans were happy to be home.
A two-RBI double by Brooks Bryan helped Troy jump out to a 4-0 cushion after three innings, and the Trojans cruised from their to a 9-3 victory over visiting ULM in the opener of a three-game home set.
Bryan, who was named to the Buster Posey Award Midseason Watch List earlier on Thursday, celebrated with a three-hit night, including that two-RBI double. His 49 RBIs this season lead the Sun Belt.
Senior righty Garrett Gainous had another strong outing to improve to 6-1 on the year. He tossed five innings, allowing just four hits and one earned run for the Trojans.

🔼 Tourney Time. The quest for a crown begins today for the Troy men’s tennis squad as they open up play at the Sun Belt Tournament with a 9 am showdown with Louisiana in the quarterfinals.
On Thursday, a quartert of Trojans were honored with the Sun Belt yearly awards, highlighted by Hiiro Sakakmoto, who was named the Freshman of the Year in the league.
Additionally, Yeray Andres Pastor was named to the Singles Second Team All-Conference, and the duo of Noah Martens and Nicolas Simkin were named to the Doubles Second Team All-Conference.
A victory over the Ragin’ Cajuns would send the Trojans into Saturday’s semifinal at 10 am.

🔼 Fresh Faces. Coming off a historic season on the court for the Troy men’s and women’s basketball squads, both programs welcomed some fresh faces this week.
On the men’s side, Coach Cross and staff announced the signing of Javen Colbert, a high school standout from Decatur, Texas. Colbert played at Decatur High School from 2022-24 and scored over 2,600 career points, including 1,102 his senior year. Rated as one of the best scorers in not just the state but also the country, Colbert averaged 32.2 points his senior year, which ranked 28th in the nation.
He also added 5.3 assists and 5.7 rebounds per game while shooting 51.0 percent from the field and 42.0 percent from distance. He had seven 40-plus point games and a 51-point performance during his senior season.
On the women’s side, Coach Rigby welcomed FAU transfer and Alabama native Aniya Hubbard to the Trojan family.
The Birmingham native sat out the 2024-25 season after flourishing at FAU for two seasons with 15.2 points, 5.4 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.5 steals in 25.5 minutes. She earned 2022-23 C-USA Freshman of the Year while collecting all-conference second team, all-defensive team, all-freshman team and Freshman of the Week five times.

Today’s Trojan Top Performance, brought to you by Conecuh Sausage, is junior Brooks Bryan, who’s two-RBI double in the third inning of Thursday’s series opener against ULM gave the Trojans all the cushion they would need in the 9-3 victory in their return home to Riddle-Pace Field. Bryan finished the night going 3-for-5 and pushed his season RBI total to 49.
