Trojans, Bison Lock Horns In WNIT Great 8 Battle

Good Morning Troy Fam. Well, one things’s for sure, it’s much nicer to head to North Dakota in late March than during the winter.

Battlin’ the Bison will be tough enough, at least there’s not six feet of snow on the ground!

🏀 BATTLIN’ THE BISON

And so we meet again….

For the second time this season, the Troy women’s hoops squad will square off with the Bison of North Dakota State. This time, a trip to the WNIT semifinals is on the line.

Back in November, the two teams met in the championship game of the
41st edition of the Great Alaska Shootout with the Trojans pulling out
a 86-69 victory with a huge second half performance.

Zay Dyer has been a force for Troy during this year’s WNIT run,
averaging 20.5 points and 11.5 rebounds in the two victories.

📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Series Dubs. There weren’t many fingernails left for fans at Riddle-Pace Field this weekend.

The 17th-ranked Troy baseball squad battled their way to a Sun Belt series victory, playing three one-run games with visiting Marshall, coming away with back-to-back 4-3 victories in the first two games of the series.

In the three game set, Trojan hurlers struck out 29 Marshall hitters, while both Steven Meier (35 games) and Harrison Bowman (8 games) extended their on-base streaks.

🔼 Saturday Sweep. Who doesn’t love a little spring cleaning?

The Troy men’s tennis team did a little sweeping of their own this weekend, picking up their first Sun Belt Conference victory of the season by blowing past visiting JMU, 4-0 on Saturday afternoon.

With the win, the Trojans are now 9-1 at home this spring.

🔼 Fun In The Sun. The Troy track & field squads enjoyed a fun few days in the sun down in Hattiesburg, putting together a dominant performance at the Southern Miss Invitational.

At the two day event, the Trojans piled up multiple personal bests and 24 top-five finishes.

🏈 IN THE LAB

Today’s Trojan Top Performance, brought to you by Conecuh Sausage, is sophomore Luciano Alcocer of the Troy men’s tennis team. Alcocer picked up a victory on the doubles court with Henrique de Brito and followed it up with a straight set win in singles action to spur the Trojans to a 4-0 sweep of JMU and earn their first conference victory of the season. Alcocer has 13 singles wins this season for Troy.

⚔️ AMONG THE LEGENDS

With the 2025 Troy football spring practice in full effect, Troy Athletics finalized the festivities for T-Day, which includes the annual Lunch with Legends panel that's packed with Troy greats before kickoff on Saturday, April 12.

In partnership with The Vance Law Firm, T-Day will kickoff at 2 p.m. with free admission for all fans. The day kicks off from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with Troy's annual Lunch with Legends featuring Richard Shaughnessy, Lawrence Tynes, DeWhitt Betterson Sr. and Corey Robinson. Between that, the free Youth Football Clinic (All children aged 5-12) starts at 12 p.m. until 1 p.m. with check-in at Gate 1 (South Concourse), starting at 11:15 a.m.
