🔼 Leading The Way. For the past three years, Thomas Dowd has led the way for the Troy men’s basketball program, both on and off the court.

Those leadership qualities were recognized this week as Dowd was named one of the 25 finalists for The Nolan Richardson Award.

The award is presented annually to a division I player who is the heart and soul of his team and a leader on and off the court.

🔼 Turnin’ Heads. Just a month into his career with the Troy Baseball program, Tommy Egan is already turnin’ heads.

This week, Egan was named to the National Pitcher of the Year Watch List by the College Baseball Foundation.

The Chicago native has anchored the Friday night role for Troy, posting a 2.25 ERA while working 5.0 innings in each of his first four starts. Egan has struck out 27 batters against just six walks over 20 innings, allowing only 14 hits and holding opponents to a .197 batting average.

🔼 Bringin’ The Energy. To say this spring will be a busy time for new Troy University offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Adam Austin is a huge understatement.
 
Besides implementing his offense, learning personnel and generally fitting in with a new football program, Austin and his wife, Aubri, are adding to their family.

Austin was hired in January after leading the highest-scoring offense on the FCS level this past season at Tarleton State in Texas, which averaged 42.4 points per game. 

Today’s Trojan Top Performance, brought to you by Conecuh Sausage, is sophomore standout Ella Cunningham of the Troy softball program. The Cleveland, Tenn., native did it all in the Trojans’ midweek win over Alabama State, tying a school record with 17 strikeouts, including striking out 12 straight. She also went 2-for-4 with a solo HR in the victory.
