One Troy Today 2/26: Road To Victory
Baseball, Men's Hoops Pick Up Big Time Road Wins On Tuesdays
Happy Hump Day Trojans. There’s very few things harder in collegiate sports than picking up road victories.
That’s why Tuesday night was such a HUGE night for the Trojans on the diamond and on the court.

🔼 Oh My-er! It’s the situation that’s been played out a million times in backyards across America.
Tie-game, ninth inning, team needs a run.
The hero on Tuesday night was played by Steven Meier, who launched a 3-0 fastball deep into the right field stands at Dudy Noble Field in Starkville to propel the 20th-ranked Trojans to a 6-5 victory over #15 Mississippi State.
Southpaw Grady Gorgen was HUGE in relief, tossing a perfect ninth inning, but it was what the lefty did in the eighth that kept the Trojans in the fight.
Gorgen entered with two on and one out and walked a hitter to load the bases, but the senior escaped the jam with strikeouts against Mississippi State's fourth and fifth hitters, Noah Sullivan and Hunter Hines.
The victory is the Trojans’ first over an SEC opponent since April of 2023.
🔼 Road To Victory. You know the old adage, Defense wins championships?
While it wasn’t a championship yet, the defense of the Troy men’s hoops team locked down a top four seed in the upcoming Sun Belt Tournament on Tuesday night.
The Trojans held Texas State without a field goal in the final 5:10 of the game en route to a crucial 74-69 road victory to improve to 12-5 in league play.
Once again, Tayton Conerway led the way with 24 points, while also grabbing five steals, five rebounds and dishing out three assists. It marks his sixth 20-plus point performance of the season. Myles Rigby added 15 for the Trojans.
🔼 Feeling Golden. It’s a good thing that Kady Schweitz doesn’t have to go through a medal detector on the way back to campus.
The junior from Plano, Texas has a little something extra in her luggage as she earned gold at the 2025 Sun Belt Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships this week.
She won the pentathlon and did so in record-breaking fashion, earning 3809 points.
For the championships, the Trojans earned four top-five finishes.
Today’s Trojan Top Performance, brought to you by Conecuh Sausage, is senior southpaw Grady Gorgen. While Steven Meier proved the heroic offensive performance, it was Gorgen who gave Troy the opportunity as the lefty got two HUGE strikeouts in the eighth to leave the bases loaded for Mississippi State and set the table for Meier’s ninth-inning rocket over the right field fence.
