📈 STOCK UP

🔼 The Showstopper. Before even throwing a pitch for the Troy baseball program, southpaw Hayden Smith is already garnering attention.

Three days before first pitch, Smith was named to the National College Baseball Writers Association's Preseason Stopper of the Year Watchlist. The award, given out each season since 2006, honors the top relief pitcher in college baseball.

Smith, a transfer from Kentucky, looks to be a key piece of the Troy bullpen this season after a productive sophomore campaign in the SEC last spring. The southpaw was scoreless in 12-of-14 appearances for the Wildcats, posting a 3.48 ERA on the season.

🔼 In Good Company. First pitch is just days away for the Troy baseball program and this week, the six different Trojans found themselves ranked among the nation’s best heading into the 2026 campaign.

Blake Cavill (#5 - first baseman), Jimmy Janicki (#12 - catcher), Aaron Piasecki (#37 - shortstop), Sean Darnell (#44 - second baseman), Steven Meier (#52 - outfield) and Noah Thigpen (#74 - starting pitcher) all found themselves in the nation’s top players at their position in the preseason rankings by D1Baseball.com.

🔼 In Good Company. The chase for history hits the floor at Trojan Arena tonight for the Troy women’s hoops squad.

Tonight, head coach Chanda Rigby goes for win #275 in her Troy career, which would make her the all-time wins leader in program history.

This week, Coach Rigby and staff visited with Trojan legend Joyce Sorrell, who Rigby is currently tied with atop the all-time wins chart.

Today’s Trojan Top Performance, brought to you by Conecuh Sausage, is, junior Makaley Boswell of the Troy softball squad. Boswell helped lead a potent offensive attack for the Trojans, who went 4-1 on opening weekend. The Geneva, Ala., native went 7-for-14 with five extra-base hits, including a HR, while driving in six RBIs and scoring eight runs.
