🔼 Grand Opening. Nothing like opening the season with a flare for the dramatics, huh
Five Trojans scored in double figures as the 2025-26 Troy men's basketball team opened its campaign with a thrilling overtime win on the road, defeating Kent State on Monday night, 103-97.
It was Cooper Campbell who delivered at the end of regulation for Troy, going coast-to-coast for a game-tying layup with one second left to send the game to an extra period.
Campbell stayed hot in overtime, scoring seven points along with Theo Seng, who finished with a game-high and new career-high 24 points. Victor Valdes also posted a career-high in the win with 23 points.
Thomas Dowd played a huge part down the stretch, finishing with his sixth career double-double with 19 points and 13 rebounds.
🔼 Rolling The Rockets. It may be a different season, but the results remained the same as the Troy women’s hoops squad opened the 2025-26 campaign in dominant fashion on Monday night, rolling past Toledo, 88-51, in the first installment of the SBC-MAC Challenge.
All five Troy starters excelled in under 26 minutes of play, combining for all but 13 of the 88 points scored. Emani Jenkins shot well from behind the arc with a team-high three triples to lead the team with 18 points. Fortuna Ngnawo followed close behind with 17 points and a career-high four blocks, while Zay Dyer (16), Ashley Baez (12) and Rachel Leggett (11) also ended in double-figures.
🔼 Down The Stretch. With just four games remaining in the regular season, the Troy volleyball team is right in the hunt for a spot in the upcoming Sun Belt Conference Tournament later this month.
The Trojans currently have a one game led on Louisiana for the fifth and final division playoff spot heading into this weekend against Southern Miss.
🔼 Got ‘Emmmm. On Monday Night Football, former Troy standout Reddy Steward continued his breakout season in his second year in the NFL.
Steward picked up his first career sack late in the fourth quarter of Dallas’ showdown with Arizona and finished with two tackles on the night to bring his season total to a career-best 32 on the year.
Today’s Trojan Top Performance, brought to you by Conecuh Sausage, is sophomore guard Cooper Campbell, who was the late game hero in Troy’s season-opening road win at Toledo on Monday night. The Puyallup, Wash. native went coast-to-coast with time expiring to force overtime and scoring seven points in the extra period. Campbell finished with 19 points, eight assists and six rebounds in the victory.
