🔼 California Love. Unwavered. Unbothered. Victorious.

All three words could be used to describe the Troy men’s basketball team on Tuesday night facing a highly-touted San Diego State squad in a boisterous environment, the Trojans showed their resilience and toughness, grinding out a 108-107 double overtime victory. The Aztecs had the most votes outside of the latest AP Top-25 Poll.

In front of a crowd of over 11,000, Troy never lost its composure, nailing big shot after shot down the stretch. The Aztecs took four-point leads in both overtime periods and had all the momentum after Miles Byrd buried a heave from beyond halfcourt to send the game to overtime.

It would have been easy for Troy to pack it in on all three occasions, but that is the exact opposite of what happened. The Trojans fought back in both overtimes, and a Cooper Campbell block and Thomas Dowd rebound – one of his 19 on the night – gave Troy one of its biggest wins under head coach Scott Cross

Dowd added 25 points, setting a new career-high for the junior. Despite fouling out late in the fourth quarter, Victor Valdes scored 20 points and assisted on four Trojan buckets.

🔼 Salute To Service. Troy Football closes out its home football slate on Saturday, hosting Georgia State at The Vet on Military Appreciation Day. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. between the Trojans and Panthers, and military members and their families will be treated to a day-long celebration.

During the game, there will be special recognitions throughout and at halftime. Troy Athletics will hold its annual Walk of Heroes, featuring special fireworks and a performance by the Sound of the South.

Today’s Trojan Top Performance, brought to you by Conecuh Sausage, is junior Thomas Dowd, who had a monster night in San Diego, setting career-highs in points (25) and rebounds (19). Dowd knocked down five 3-pointers on the night and dished out an assist on one of the biggest victories in recent years for the program.

Trojans Top Performance is brought to you by Conecuh Sausage. Conecuh Sausage is made in Alabama, it’s great on the grill and a fan favorite for tailgating. Conecuh Sausage, the Official Sausage of Troy Athletics.
