🔼 Back At It Again. Coming off its second bye week of the season and a victory over Coastal Carolina, Troy travels to Georgia Southern this weekend for the first of two straight on the road in Sun Belt Conference play. The Trojans have found their stride in the last six quarters, scoring 66 points and totaling 842 yards of total offense. Defensively, Troy has also stepped up, allowing just 526 yards over the last six quarters (350.6 per game) and 35 points.
🔼 Well-Deserved. Troy University Chancellor Dr. Jack Hawkins, Jr. has been selected as the recipient of the 2024 Armed Forces Merit Award presented annually by the Football Writers Association of America. The award was created in 2012 to honor an individual and/or a group with a military background or involvement that has an impact within the realm of college football.
🗣️ “I’m completely humbled to receive this award. It was a great honor to serve our country. I know that freedom isn’t free, and I have great appreciation for those who serve and have served. For me to be even mentioned for an award like this is an honor and extremely humbling. Serving our country was a wonderful experience for me. There were certainly challenges, but I received far more from that experience than I gave.” - Dr. Jack Hawkins Jr.
🔼 All Out Effort. After a strong first half that saw Troy take a one-point lead into the halftime break, Arkansas shot the lights out in the second half to pull away to take down the Trojans, 65-49 on Wednesday night. Jackson Fields recorded his third-straight game in double digits with 13 points to lead Troy. He is averaging 12.6 points per game this season. Myles Rigsby also reached double-figures with 12 points on 5-15 shooting.
🔼 First One Down. Troy women’s basketball’s Zay Dyer exploded with 24 points on 10-of-20 shooting and 12 rebounds Thursday night to lead the Trojans to its first victory of 2024-25, 76-66, over UT-Chattanooga. Ashley Baez (12 points) ended the night on a perfect 10-of-10 from the charity stripe to extend her double-digit scoring streak to four.
🔼 Til The End. The Troy volleyball team battled App State in a back-and-forth matchup Thursday night, but ultimately fell short in the fifth set despite a dominant performance by Tori Hester at Trojan Arena. Hester, who was honored before the match for setting the program record for kills, recorded a season-high 35 kills for the Trojans.
