🔼 Dialing Long Distance. For the first time since 2016, seven Trojans scored in double figures as Troy handled Pensacola Christian, 121-56, in its home opener.
Now 3-0, Troy is off to its best start since the 2022-23 season, continuing its run to open the year by making 16 three-pointers on Tuesday night.
After shooting 0-for-4 from beyond the arc at Furman, Thomas Dowd flipped the script, hitting 4-of-5 from deep to finish with a team-high 16 points, eight rebounds, and four assists.
🔼 Power Pair. Big time players make big time plays in big time games.
When their team needed it the most, outside hitter Amiah Butler and freshman setter Madison Marx delivered and for their performances the duo earned Sun Belt weekly awards.
Butler collected the second Offensive Player of the Week award of her career and first this season. Marx picked up the first Setter of the Week honor of her young career.
Butler finished the weekend with 57 kills across the two matches — the most in the Sun Belt this weekend. Her 32-kill performance on Saturday was a career high and the third-most in a single match within the conference this season.
The Franklin, Wis., native directed the Trojans' offense with 58 assists over the weekend. Marx added 24 digs, notching double-doubles in both matches. Saturday marked Marx's third straight double-double, a feat she has accomplished in six of her last nine matches.
🔼 Thursday Night Lights. For the fifth straight season, the Troy football team will be featured on Thursday Night Lights on national TV, this time, hitting the road to battle Old Dominion on ESPN tomorrow night.
Both teams have already secured bowl bids for later this season, but the Trojans head to Norfolk, Va. looking to stay in the race for the West Division crown, sitting just a game back of Southern Miss.
The Monarchs, like Troy, are coming off a bye week this past weekend, but prior to that dismantle ULM, 31-6, heading into its break.

Today’s Trojan Top Performance, brought to you by Conecuh Sausage, is junior Thomas Dowd, who reached double-figures for a third consecutive game to start the 2025-26 season. Dowd led the Trojans with 16 points in Tuesday’s home win, knocking down four 3-pointers, while also grabbing eight rebounds and dishing out four assists.
