🔼 Preseason Praise. Trojan hoops season is less than two weeks away and the Trojans are ready to defend their title.

This week, the Sun Belt Conference announced its Preseason All-Sun Belt Teams with Troy's Thomas Dowd landing on the First Team. The conference also revealed the results of the Preseason Coaches Poll, with the Trojans picked to finish fourth. 

Dowd returns to Troy after a breakout sophomore season in which he averaged 9.6 points and led the Trojans in rebounding with 6.9 per contest. 

Troy's fourth-place finish in the preseason poll marks the second straight year the Trojans have been tabbed within the top five spots, following a third-place selection last season.

🔼 Three Of A Kind. Coming off a historic 2024-25 season, the Trojan women’s hoops program is back for even more this year.

Troy will do so after earning a conference-high three Preseason All-Sun Belt members as Zay Dyer leads the way on the first team, followed by Rachel Leggett on the second, and Ashley Baez on the third – Troy also finished third in the coaches' poll, trailing just James Madison and Arkansas State.

The 2024-25 All-Sun Belt First Team member, Dyer, extends Troy's run of a Preseason All-Sun Belt First Team member to four of the last five years. She comes off a 2024-25 campaign where she led the Sun Belt in rebounds and double-doubles at 10.4 and 18, respectively.

South Alabama transfer Leggett follows Dyer on the second team. On a Jaguar team that finished 6-24, 2-16 SBC, Leggett was the shining light with 13.1 points on a team-high 54.1 percent shooting in 30 games (21 starts).

Baez rounds out the trio of Trojans to receive preseason accolades after averaging 9.3 points, 3.2 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.6 steals across 38 games.

🔼 Benchin’ Out. It’s Backkkkkk.

The 11th annual Bench out Breast Cancer event, organized by the Troy Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, will be held TONIGHT at 7 p.m. in the first floor football tower weight room.

The event raises thousands of dollars every year for cancer research as students and community compete in a bench press competition. There will be prizes for the top male and female lifters, including a free oil change from Jim Whaley and Troy football memorabilia.

Today’s Trojan Top Performance, brought to you by Conecuh Sausage, is redshirt junior punter Evan Crenshaw. For the third time this fall, the Florida native earned a spot on the Ray Guy “Ray’s 8 List”, honoring the best punting performances around the country. In Troy’s road win at ULM, all three of Crenshaw’s punts landed inside the 20-yard-line with a 57-yard punt highlighting the performance.
