🔼 Best Of The Best. Troy baseball's Jimmy Janicki has been honored as the Sun Belt Conference's Male Athlete of the Year for the 2025-26 season.

The Sun Belt Conference celebrates its student-athletes' achievements each year through its annual awards and honors banquet. With this recognition, Janicki becomes only the second Trojan in history to receive Male Athlete of the Year honors.

Ranked as MLB's fifth-overall prospect and the top catcher in the country, Janicki led the Trojan's offensive attack throughout 2026. Starting 70 games behind the plate, he led the team in batting average (.343), hits (97), at-bats (283), doubles (26), home runs (21), RBIs (87), total bases (188), and slugging percentage (.664). His stellar year also translated to the national leaderboards, where he tied for second in RBIs, placed fifth in hits, doubles, and total bases, and tied for 25th in home runs.

🔼 Finding Pay Dirt. Former Troy standouts made their presence felt across the NFL during Week 5, highlighted by an explosive performance from Los Angeles Chargers running back Kimani Vidal.

Vidal rushed for 57 yards and a touchdown on eight carries in the Chargers' 23-17 loss to the Denver Broncos. His biggest play came late in the third quarter when he broke free for a 42-yard touchdown run, marking his second consecutive game with a score. Vidal also contributed in the passing and return games, catching one pass and returning three kickoffs for 75 yards.

Former Trojan offensive lineman Jake Andrews continued to provide depth along Houston's offensive line in the Texans’ convincing 26-3 victory over the Tennessee Titans.

🔼 Opportunity Knocks. This week, Troy Athletics announced a new program that allows high school photographers and videographers to enter a lottery for credentials to Troy football games, providing experience in a college athletics environment.

"Most of us got started in college athletics because someone gave us a chance when we were younger," Troy Executive Associate Athletics Director for Communications, Branding and Creative Content Adam Prendergast said. "We always want to foster opportunities and growth. Our hope is that this program not only helps high school students enhance their portfolios by shooting a college football game but also lays the groundwork for them to become future Trojans."

🔼 First Impressions. Playing in her first collegiate tournament, Phenyo Sebata fired a 2-under 70 to lead Troy in Tuesday's final round of the Lady Red Wolves Classic, hosted by Arkansas State at the Sage Meadows Country Club.

Sebata, who played as an individual so her card didn't count toward the team score, carded four more birdies on Tuesday, finishing her final 36 holes of the tournament with nine birdies and just two bogeys.

She tied for seventh in the field with a combined 12 birdies for the week, and she also tied for ninth on the par-3s (E). Roberta Alvarez led the field with a combined 6-under on the par-5s, while Anna Roldan Sewald tied for third with 13 overall birdies.

Today’s Trojan Top Performance, brought to you by Conecuh Sausage, is first-year standout Phenyo Sebata, who made quite an impression in her first collegiate tournament experience. Playing as an individual at the Lady Red Wolves Classic, Sebata fired a 4-under to finish in a tie for seventh place overall. She carded 12 birdies over the three rounds.

Trojans Top Performance is brought to you by Conecuh Sausage. Conecuh Sausage is made in Alabama, it’s great on the grill and a fan favorite for tailgating. Conecuh Sausage, the Official Sausage of Troy Athletics.
